The 2009 National Bowl Weekend featured 6 exciting Bowl games:
MANATEE BOWL
The Manatee Bowl was the 5th Annual NATIONAL FOOTBALL EVENTS, NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. The game featured two regional tournament champions. The Wauwatosa (WI) Spartans won the 12th Annual NFE Mid States Football Tournament and the Henry County (GA) Horsemen won the 2nd USFA Southeast Tournament.
The Manatee Bowl was a low scoring defensive battle. In the first half both teams entered their opponents red zone 3 times. Each time the defenses held and the first half was scoreless. The 3rd quarter again had another goal line stand. With only 15 seconds gone in the 4th quarter, Henry County kicked a 37-yard field goal. They followed with a passing attack later in the quarter to score the game’s only touchdown. The Horsemen won by a score of 9 to 0.

FLORIDA BOWL
The 4th Annual Florida Bowl featured excellent football being played between the Lowell (MA) Nor’easter and the Hardin Count (KY) Wolverines.
The Nor’easters scored twice in the first quarter. Both TD’s were on 22-yard pass plays from QB John Speidel to WR Chris Degree. The Wolverines scored twice in the 2nd quarter – 1 TD, followed by a 41-yard field goal with 0:31 seconds left in the 1st half.
The Wolverines opened the 2nd half with an 80-yard pass play for TD with only 30 seconds off the clock. The Nor’easter regained the lead with a 9 play drive for a TD in the 4th quarter to win the game 20 to 16.

NORTH AMERICAN BOWL
The North American Bowl featured the winners of the 2007 National Championship, Prince Wm (VA) Monarchs vs. the USFA 2008 Harvest Bowl Champions, Albany (NY) Metro Mallers.
The first half featured the Metro Mallers high scoring offense. The first score was the result of a 46-yard pass play from QB Scott Lawson. This was followed by a 52-yard punt return for a TD. The next score was another TD pass by Lawson for 26 yards. Field goal kicker, Bryan Bagstad, followed with kicks of 42 yards and 36 yards to close the half at 24 to 0.
Prince Wm had a 3rd quarter TD and also recorded a safety. The Metro Mallers kicked another field goal and scored the final TD with an interception returned for a score. The Metro Mallers won 33 to 8.

PALM BOWL
The 3rd Annual Palm Bowl was the inaugural NFE Spring/Summer National Championship game. The Winter/Spring League champions, Orlando (FL) Rage versus the Summer League champions, Georgia Xtreme was an exciting game that went into overtime.
The Rage started fast with 2 TD’s in the first quarter. The Xtreme scored once in the 3rd quarter and another TD with 3:44 left in the game. They followed with a 2 point conversion and the score was tied at 14 to 14. In overtime, the Xtreme scored first and the PAT was blocked. The Rage also scored and the PAT was successful. The final score was 21 to 20.

ORANGE BLOSSOM BOWL
The 2nd Annual Orange Blossom Bowl pitted the champions of the Big North East Football Federation, the North West (PA) Giants versus the Sarasota (FL) Millionaires of the Southern States Football League.
The first score of the game came with 6:27 left in the first quarter. QB Mike Peterson completed a 29-yard pass to Ben Seymour. In the 2nd quarter, Wendell Rainey returned a punt for a 50-yard TD. QB Peterson scrambled for the 2 point PAT. With 2 seconds left in the half, Ian Kitchell kicked a field goal. Kitchell also kicked a 39-yard field goal for the only score in the 2nd half. Final score was 20 to 0.

USO Benefit Bowl
The USO Benefit Bowl featured the Carolina (SC) Express and the Orlando (FL) Rage “B” Team. The game gave the local community the opportunity to receive door prizes in a raffle if they brought traditional supplies that could be forwarded to troops through the USO organization.
The scoring began with Carolina, LB Michael Stuart, intercepting a pass to set up the first TD. In the 2nd quarter, Michael Kidd of Orlando kicked a 31-yard field goal. With 2 seconds left in the 1st half, Carolina QB, Travis Poitier, ran 19 yards for a TD. In the 3rd quarter, Orlando QB Javier Rodriquez, found WR Jimmy Rose, for a 16-yard TD. The Express scored twice in the 4th quarter with Al Washington on a 4-yard run and Travis Poitier with a 90-yard interception return. The final score was Carolina 28 to Orlando 9.
